Eine Vorliebe für Hifi-Geräte aus Grossbritannien kann ich nicht abstreiten. Ich bin ein großer Fan der schottischen Firma LINN und stolzer Besitzer von einem Paar LINN Nexus Lautsprechern. Diese Ära neigt sich nun dem Ende zu, mittlerweile habe die Nexus durch die bessere Bowers und Wilkins Nautilus 804 ersetzt.

Ich bin der Meinung, daß es sich durchaus lohnt, in gute NF- und Lautsprecherkabel zu investieren, auch wenn manche selbsternannten "Hifi-Experten" dies bezweifeln. Hier hilft nur ausprobieren, man sollte allerdings Kabel wählen, die in einem vernünftigen Verhältnis zum Wert der Gesamtanlage stehen.

Im April 2007 hatte ich während einer USA-Reise die Gelegenheit, die Fabrik des renommierten Hifi-Herstellers McIntosh in Binghamton im Staat New York zu besuchen. Ich habe an einer Werksbesichtigung teilgenommen und war von der großen Fertigungstiefe und der ausgefeilten Produktion sehr beeindruckt. Ich möchte mich auf diesem Wege noch einmal bei den freundlichen Mitarbeitern bei McIntosh und besonders bei Mr. Chuck Hinton für die interessanten Erklärungen bedanken.

Ich mag keine Elektrogrossmärkte wie MediaMarkt, ProMarkt oder Saturn, die immer so tun, als wären sie sehr billig, die aber in Wirklichkeit kaum bessere Preise haben als der Fachhändler, den ich in jedem Falle vorziehe. Dort hat man nicht nur eine qualitativ bessere Auswahl, sondern vor allen Dingen die notwendige Ruhe, um sich verschiedene Komponenten ausführlich anzuhören. Die gute Beratung und das Gefühl, unter Gleichgesinnten zu sein, sind mir auch wichtig.
Einige gute Händler sollen hier genannt sein, ich habe alle mal besucht und mich dort wohl gefühlt.

I can't deny a preference for Hifi components made in the UK. I'm big fan of the scottish company LINN and a proud owner of a couple of LINN Nexus loudspeakers. But this era will come to an end now, meanwhile i have replaced the Nexus with the better Bowers and Wilkins Nautilus 804.

In my opinion, it's profitable by all means to invest in good cinch- and loudspeaker-cable although some so-called "Hifi-Experts" call it in question. The only way is to try it, but you have to choose cable which are in proportion with the value of the hifi-system.

In April 2007 i had the opportunity to visit the factory of the famous Hifi-manufacturer McIntosh in Binghamton, State New York during an USA-trip. I made a factory tour and i was very impressed of the production depth and elaborate way of producing the McIntosh components. I would like to thank again on this way the team of McIntosh and especially Mr. Chuck Hinton for his interesting explanatations.

I don't like big electronic stores like MediaMarkt, ProMarkt or Saturn who always pretend to be cheap but in truth they nearly have the same prices as the specialized dealer which i like much more. There you don't only have a better selection in a qualitative way but first of all the necessary calmness to listen detailed to different components. The good advice and the feeling to be under like-minded people are also important to me.
Some good specialized dealers i have visited sometimes should be mentioned here.

Eine besondere Empfehlung ist mir das Auditorium in 59065 Hamm, Feidikstr. 93, wert. Eine solch große Auswahl, von Einsteiger-Hifi bis zum High End-Bereich, vom klassischen Hifi bis zur anspruchsvollsten Surroundanlage, habe ich noch bei keinem anderen Händler erleben dürfen. Auch die Präsentation und die freundliche Beratung sind beispielhaft.

My special recommendation is the Auditorium in 59065 Hamm, Feidikstr. 93. I have never found such a great selection of High Fidelity for beginners to High End, from classical stereo to ambitious surround systems at another high fidelity dealer. The presentation and the good and friendly advices are exemplary, too.

Ich bin Mitglied der ANALOGUE AUDIO ASSOCIATION e.V., einem Verein, der es sich zur Aufgabe gemacht hat, die analoge Musikwiedergabe zu erhalten und zu fördern.

My heart belongs to my two turntables and my collection of long-playing records. Nevertheless, it gets more difficult to find some new records, but the internet helps a lot, for example the auction community Ebay.
